Harbour Island is famous for its pink sand beaches which is found all along the east side of the island. Central Park is a large public, urban park (843 acres, 3.41 km², 1.32 mi²; a rectangle 2.6 statute miles by 0.5 statute mile, or 4.1 km × 830 m) in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, almost 4/5 of the size of Vancouver’s Stanley Park and just over 1/3 of the size of London’s Richmond Park, but just 1/5 of Los Angeles’s Griffith Park. With about twenty-five million visitors annually, Central Park is the most visited city park in the United States, and its appearance in many movies and television shows has made it famous.

The park is maintained by the Central Park Conservancy, a private, not-for-profit organization that manages the park under a contract with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, in which the president of the Conservancy is ex officio Administrator of Central Park.

The Coloradoan is a daily newspaper in Fort Collins, Colorado. The Coloradoan’s website is updated throughout the day with breaking news and video coverage of community news. A portion of the paper’s newsroom serves as Northern Newsroom for 9News.

It was founded by Joseph L. McClelland in 1873 as Larimer County Express. Fort Collins Newspapers Inc. was established in 1937 when Speidel Newspapers acquired the publication known as The Express-Courier. The Coloradoan moved from its Old Town Fort Collins location to 1212 Riverside Ave. on the city’s east side in 1974. Gannett acquired the newspaper when it merged with Speidel in 1977.

In 2004, Gannett began construction on a new $6 million facility on property adjacent to their Riverside site. In June 2005, advertising, circulation, human resources, news and technology staffs moved into 1300 Riverside Ave. The 30-year old printing press remains at 1212 Riverside Ave.

Hanauma Bay

  

Hanauma Bay (pronounced "ha-NOW-mah", in Hawaiian, "Ha-nah-oo-mah") is a marine embayment formed within a volcanic cone or crater and located along the southeast coast of the Island of Oʻahu (just east of Honolulu) in the Hawaiian Islands. Hana means ‘bay’ and uma means ’shelter,’ rendering "Shelter Bay" The "Bay" is a tautology: Hawaiians simply call this feature "Hanauma". Hanauma is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island and has suffered somewhat from overuse (at one time accommodating over three million visitors per year). In the 1950s, dynamite was used to clear portions of the reef to expand the area available for swimming.

Best Best Halloween Place: Swiss Avenue

  
 
The wonderful thing about Halloween on Swiss Avenue is that it’s sort of not Halloween. On Swiss the night has evolved into something quite beyond Halloween, a phenomenon particular to the place and time. It’s a strange admixture of American Halloween, Mexican Day of the Dead and who knows what else. There could be some Latvian Independence Day going on out there, and nobody would be the wiser. Or mind. Starting at dark and lasting until 10 p.m. or so, the big houses on Swiss always offer a wonderfully warm welcome for all comers. Pickup-loads of kids, some in costumes, some wearing quinceañera gowns (mostly girls), pile across the lawns in search of loot. It’s a whole new kind of holiday in protean form. Not to be missed.
